Samsung Global Goals App raises over USD 10 million for a better world
Samsung Electronics has just announced that their Samsung Global Goals app has raised more than USD10 million to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and its 17 Global Goals that aim to make the world a better place.
The Global Goals under the UNDP are a series of milestones to create a fairer, more sustainable world by 2030 and cover the gamut ranging from addressing climate change, education and inequality. To address this, Samsung teamed up with the UNDP to launch the Samsung Global Goals app that was deployed in 2019 in partnership with the UNDP.
What is the Samsung Global Goals app?
While it doesn’t seem much on its own as an app floating about on your Samsung phone, the Samsung Global Goals app is installed on nearly 300 million Samsung Galaxy devices across the globe which is a massive number by any measure of the word.
Via the Samsung Global Goals app, users are made aware of the pressing issues affecting our world and enables users to make a difference by donating directly, using in-app wallpapers to generate ad-earnings and help contribute by watching advertisements in the app with Samsung matching proceeds from all in-app advertisements.

“As we approach the halfway point of the 2030 deadline, this coming year is crucial in our pursuit to advance the Global Goals,” said UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner. “While the world has faced recent setbacks, we are energised by the progress made through this partnership. Together with Samsung we must reinvigorate our combined efforts to achieve the Goals and inspire the next generation to take action with us.”
