Samsung’s brilliant HDR+ feature is rolling out to all their 2016 SUHD TVs

If you own a Samsung SUHD or UHD TV of recent vintage, specifically those from their range of TVs released this year (circa 2016), keep an eye out for a firmware update that will add their awe inspiring HDR+ upscaling tech. The HDR+ firmware update allows standard dynamic range content (SDR) to be dynamically upscaled in terms of contrast ratio and picture brightness to near HDR-like picture quality. It’s not as gorgeous as native HDR content but it’s an enjoyable way to enjoy the existing content you have in your library.

If you’re the discerning sort, you can tweak the brightness, contrast and gradation as needed via a special Expert Mode. The HDR+ firmware upgrade  is available for download for all 2016 SUHD TVs and will eventually roll out to all HDR-compatible 2016 TVs by September.
