Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 now repriced to RM2,199

While Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 is a bit long in the tooth, it’s still one of the few phablets that closely integrate a  stylus into its design that actually works rather than being an afterthought. In 2016, the Note 5 does admittedly look somewhat dated though it will still run in circles around anything midrange this year. Now, seeing as its successor the Note 7 has exited stage left, it is, for now at least, the most powerful phablet they have in their inventory and it has just enjoyed a price cut. From its erstwhile eyebrow-furrowing RM2,699, it has now been repriced to a more pleasing RM2,199. This was announced on Samsung Mobile Electronic’s Facebook page for Malaysia.

For your money, the Note 5 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED touchscreen, runs their last gen Exynos 7420 2.1GHz octacore processor paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage and has a rear 16-MP camera capable of taking 4K video. Alas, there’s no microSD card slot so you’ll have to be fairly frugal with how you use your storage. The S Pen stylus is the main draw here as it draws on some of Wacom’s best tech to offer an experience akin to a real pen with exceptional levels of pressure sensitivity so that a suitably skilled doodler or artist can actually deliver some serviceable sketches with this. Most will likely use it for its ability to take down notes on the fly.

The new price for the Note 5 is effective for all currently available colour variants – you get your pick of Gold Platinum, Black Sapphire, Silver Titanium- and is good at all Samsung retail stores and dealers nationwide in Malaysia. For more details swing by www.samsung.com/mynote-5-with-s-pen
