Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ roadshows draw in the crowds
Consumer sentiment is a capricious thing that wavers and flickers on a whim though seeing the massive crowds drawn in queuing up for Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy S8 and S8+, it was safe to say that their new flagship phone enjoyed an immensely positive reception in Malaysia.
Samsung organised a pre-order programme for the phones via their website and their authorised dealers earlier in April last month along with three massive roadshows from 5 to 7 May at Sunway Pyramid in the Klang Valley, at Queensbay Mall in Penang and at Sutera Mall in Johor Bahru. While many vendors would be content with just a few tethered phones to display to the public, Samsung went all the way with experiential zones that highlighted the features of the S8 including its robust array of accessories like their revamped Gear VR and Gear 360 camera as well as their DeX desktop dock. The added draw of being able to purchase these accessories at a significant discount after purchasing an S8 at these roadshows made it all the more enticing.
One Vijay Anand, a 39 year old creative director based in the Klang valley was one of the first 50 to get his hands on the phone. device. “Having previously used the Galaxy S7 edge, I am very familiar and comfortable with the innovations of the Galaxy S Series. The new design is brilliant thanks to the new Infinity Display; and with all the new features and enhanced specifications, upgrading to the Galaxy S8 is an easy choice. My next mission is to explore the functionality of the Gear VR and Gear 360 and experience the full Galaxy ecosystem.”
Another buyer who queued up at the roadshow to get his hands on the phone was enthusiastic about his acquisition. Shahrul Azuri, a 32 year old businessman from Cheras said,”“I have always been a Note user but when I heard about all the new innovations of the Galaxy S8, I thought it will be a shame not to try it out. What captured my attention is the big screen and infinity display. I enjoy gaming and watching videos as it is a great way to unwind after work so this feature would be nifty for me. Coupled with the AKG earphones, I am looking forward to an all-round immersive experience with my Galaxy S8+. I also understand that the phone is preloaded with Samsung Pay so I am keen to try it out since I haven’t been able to with my current phone.” The roadshows run until tomorrow on 7 May.
