Samsung’s new budget Galaxy J-Pro series phones come with extended protection for free
Buying a phone when you’re on a budget is often a Faustian bargain of trading off performance for as low a price tag as possible with little margin left for what happens if you inadvertently prang your phone with terminal deceleration trauma; that’s dropping it to the ground, folks. Samsung it seems has taken that to heart with their latest array of J Pro series phones that consist of the Galaxy J3 Pro, the J5 Pro and the J7 Pro. When you buy any of the three phones, you get one free year of screen protection and one free year of extended warranty protection so you’re covered in more ways than one.
The Galaxy J3 Pro comes with a 5-inch HD display, has a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, a rear 13-MP camera with an F/1.9 aperture and 1080P video capture, 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable memory. The front camera is a modest 5-MP with an F/2.2 aperture. The 2,400mAh offers about 61 hours of music playback time and the whole affair clocks in at a very affordable RM699 and you can pick from a choice of a pink, black, blue or gold finish.
The Galaxy J5 Pro has slightly better overall hardware with a slightly larger 5.2-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.6GHz octacore proccessor, 3GB RAM paired with 32GB of expandable memory, a rear 13-MP camera with an F/1.7 aperture and 1080P video capture, a front-facing 13-MP camera with an F/1.9 aperture, a fingerprint reader and a 3,000mAh battery that offers up about 74 hours of music playback time. It ships in blue, black, gold and a quaint shade of rose gold for RM1,149.
The Galaxy J7 Pro is the best specced of the lot with a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display that has an Always On display mode akin to the Galaxy S8 and S7, a 1.6GHz octacore processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a fingerprint reader, a rear 13-MP F/1.7 camera, a front-facing 13-MP F/1.9 camera and a larger 3,600mAh battery. It comes in four colours – blue, black, gold and rose gold for RM1,299.
Should all this float your boat, the Galaxy J Pro series phones with the free screen protection and warranty offer is only available until 30 September 2017. You can get the phones after that but they won’t have the same free warranties thrown in on the house. There’s some fine print of course but the extra warranties offer significant peace of mind, especially for the horrifically butter fingered among us.
