Samsung’s waterproof Galaxy A5 and A7 phones up for preorders
Samsung’s next generation workhorse Galaxy A-series phones have just been announced ahead of its slated launch on 5th January 2017. The two phones from the Galaxy A series dubbed the Galaxy A5 and A7 will be open for preorders in Malaysia starting on Friday 6th January at 10.00AM until Sunday 15th January 2017 with the A5 retailing for RM1,699 and the A7 for RM1,899.
While the specifications have not been made official as yet, GSMArena has mentioned that the Galaxy A5 is 7.8mm thin, will have a 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, run Android Marshmallow on an Exynos 7880 1.9GHz octacore processor. This is paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Both front and rear cameras have an F/1.8 aperture and a 16-MP sensor though the rear camera has optical image stabilisation. The phone is, as mentioned earlier, water resistant to the tune of an IP68 rating so it’ll survive a sousing in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes tops. Keeping it juiced is a 3,000mAh battery comes with fast charging support. The Galaxy A7 has similar specifications but has a larger 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display with either 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage. Both phones purportedly will come with fingerprint sensors and will be Samsung Pay compliant.
While stocks last, those who preorder will get a free Level U Pro headset worth RM399 for every A5 or A7 purchased while stocks last. For more details swing by Samsung Malaysia’s official Facebook page here.
