Shopee turns one with 12 days of crazy sales
Shopee the mobile e-tailer has just turned one today. The company, which is owned by Garena and begun operations in December 2015, shared insights of their growth, chief among them that they achieved USD 1.8 billion in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) with 43% month-on-month growth over the past one year. At present, they have over 20 million users and over 65 million listings across seven countries in Southeast Asia.
They also shared interesting highlights about consumer behaviour on Shopee:
- On average, Shopee app users spend 25 minutes daily on the app
- 80% of users use the in-app chat before making an order to check seller credibility and product details
- 70% of buyers follow sellers on Shopee to get news of restocking of popular products.
- 70% of users are more likely to buy on mobile than on PC.
- The top three products sold are Ocean liquid detergent, baby feeding bottle wash and soft toys.
- The top three product categories are health and beauty products, mobile accessories and toys, kids and babies.
To celebrate, Shopee is announcing 12 days of celebrations and discounts galore. To kick things off they have host of deals for users including discounts up to 90%, RM1 deals and tons of giveaways worth up to RM50,000 in flights, hotel stays and more.
On 2nd December they will kick off a ‘cheapest phone’ deal along with the opening of Oppo’s online store including their unique F1s Ayda Jebat edition for RM1,398.
On 3rd and 4th December, they will have a special carnival with musical acts like Payslip, Harris Baba, and DVA along with great deals onsite at Avenue K from 10AM to 9PM. The array of deals is unique unto each day and continues until 12th December.
