New Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones priced at RM2,099 set the bar for sound and noise cancelling
The latest incarnation of Sony’s signature wireless on-ear headphones are back as they’ve announced that the new Sony WH-1000XM6 wireless headphones are now available for preorders in Malaysia.
The headphones are priced at RM2,099 with your choice of three colourways – Black, Platinum Silver and Midnight Blue.
Sony WH-1000XM6 Specs and upgrades
The successor to the prior Sony WH-1000XM5 that was released in 2022, the new Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones feature an improved on-ear foldable design that integrates a wider upholstered headphone band and stretchable material across the earpads for comfortable extended wear.
The accompanying case has also enjoyed an upgrade with a magnetic closure for easier access.
Aesthetics aside, the Sony WH-1000XM6 packs 30mm drivers that utilise a high rigidity carbon fiber composite material dome and a revamped voice coil design.
Of note is the inclusion of an improved HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 processor seven times faster than its predecessor while featuring 12 microphones to notably offer superior active noise cancellation performance. The headphones also integrated Adaptive NC Optimiser tech to adapt to external noises and air pressure.
To ensure superior acoustic performance, Sony developed the headphones in collaboration with three of the top industry recording studios – Sterling Sound, Battery Studios and Coast Mastering.
The headphones support for Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless via their own LDAC audio coding tech as well as Edge-AI and DSEE Extreme upscaling for upscaling digital music files in real time for superior sound quality on top of the usual SBC and AAC codecs. The headphones also feature 360 Reality Audio Upmix for Cinema for cinemalike spatial sound.
Call quality is given similar emphasis with a six-microphone AI-based beamforming system that prioritises user sound quality while filtering out background noise for crisp and clear voice calls.

In Malaysia, the Sony WH-1000XM6 are priced at RM2,099 with a street date of mid-June 2025 and those who preorder early before 8 June 2025 can get a headphone stand worth RM199, a Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit worth RM50 if the product warranty is registered before 20 July 2025.
