Sony Xperia 1V camera phone for pros now in Malaysia priced at RM6,399 with early bird specials
Smartphone cameras are by and large point-and-shoot experiences but the new Sony Xperia 1V, pronounced as the Sony Xperia one mark five that’s now available in Malaysia aims to combine a premium Android flagship phone experience with their best imaging hardware to turn it into a true camera phone for professionals.

What elevates the Sony Xperia 1V above the crowd is the implementation of Sony’s own Exmor T for mobile CMOS sensor with 2-layer Transistor Pixels for superior imaging and low light performance on the rear 48MP 24mm camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) that pixel bins shots down to 12MP.
The rear also comes with two additional 12MP cameras with one packing a 16mm lens and another packing an 85-125mm telephoto lens with OIS to cover the gamut of photography scenarios. In terms of capabilities, the phone is capable of up to a surprising 4K@120fps slow motion video. Up front, the phone has a single 12MP F/2.0 selfie camera capable of up to 4K@ 30fps.
The enhancements for professional photographers and cinematographers don’t end there with the inclusion of Sony’s S-Cinetone picture profile for superior image reproduction especially for lifelike skintones. That’s not all as the phone has a dedicated camera app, music app and video capture with a full bevy of manual controls to cater to even the most demanding content creators.
Cameras aside, the Sony XPeria 1V features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio. The display is also protected by a slab of Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Powering the phone is the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB of expandable storage via a built-in microSD card; a vanishingly rare commodity in smartphones. The phone also retains an elusively rare 3.5mm audio jack too. The phone even has a dedicated camera button in the corner for use in landscape mode.
Keeping the phone powered is a 5,000mAh battery which also features 30W fast charging with wireless and reverse wireless charging support. The Sony Xperia 1V also, oddly enough, has both an IP65 and IP68 dust and water resistance rating with the former rating in regards to its ability to resist jets of water and the latter for its ability to survive up to 1.5 meters in fresh water for 30 minutes.
