Sony’s premium ZX300 Walkman offers Hi-Res audio on the go for RM2,599
Way back in the 80’s, Sony debuted their Walkman series of portable cassette players that defined a generation by offering the ability to play music on the go which was quite a novelty for the time. Fast forward three decades later and music has gone digital and along with it Sony’s ZX Walkman series of portable media players that offer Hi-Res audio support and premium build quality to boot. Sony’s ZX300 Walkman is the latest successor to their ZX series line of portable players that offers Hi-Res audio playback along with several refinements across the board.
Like its other siblings in the line, the ZX300 is a compact, beautifully made affair done up in a matte black finish over its aluminium chassis as well as solid metal buttonry all around which adds to its posh looking design. The ZX300 sports Hi-Res audio support with their S-Master HX digital amplifier with 11.2MHz DSD and 384kHz/32bit PCM audio support with music stored on 64GB of expandable storage via a microSD card. Unlike its earlier incarnations that ran a version of Android, the ZX300 offers a simpler, more efficient user interface that focuses purely on music playback. Getting about the menus is via a 3.1-inch WVGA touchscreen that sports a matte finish for easier viewability under daylight conditions.
Other refinements include the provision of their S-Master HX digital amplifier, Conductive Polymer Aluminium Solid Capacitors (FTCAP), a USB-DAC function that lets you stream audio from your phone through the ZX300 for a superior listening experience and Bluetooth v4.2 support too. Battery life is exceptional as it’s rated at 30 hours before it needs a juicing. Sony’s ZX300 is now available nationwide in the only colour you’ll ever want which in this case is black for RM2,599.
