There are blenders, and there’s this terrifying monstrosity that is able to literally puree everything from veggies to garden rakes and render even improbably resilient objects like iPhones into goo. If you have been wandering the weird and wonderful thing that is YouTube, you’ll likely have come across the ‘Will it Blend’ videos that see a friendly man in a lab coat attempting to blend all manner of illogical objects in a blender. Inevitably, all those videos end in success and whatever he tosses in, which has over the years included garden rakes, smartphones, an iPad, a glass bottle. a baseball, marbles and more, turned into a slurry of disassociated particles. That man in the video is Tom Dickson, the founder of Blendtec blenders and the blenders that he uses in those videos are of his own design and invention.

The more astute among you will note that all these eclectic blending hijinks are essentially an infomercial, but you’ve also likely heard of the adage ‘If you got it, flaunt it’ which Blendtec’s array of terrifyingly powerful blenders have in spades. It’s one thing to see it on a YouTube video, it’s another to see it happen live before your very eyes.

Last week, Blendtec, in cooperation with local distributor West Metric Sdn Bhd launched four of their legendary blenders in Malaysia – the Blendtec Classic 575, the Designer 625, the Designer 725 and the Professional 800. All of them come with surgical stainless steel blades that are tough enough to pulp glass and metal.

On closer inspection, they’re actually blunt. The trick here is that the motor powering them is so juiced up that it can plough through everything thrown in its path. Where they differ is the power of the motor as well as the additional modes available. Both the Classic 575 and Designer 625 come with a 3hp motor while the heftier Designer 725 and Professional 800 both come with a 3.8hp motor. The jars are also BPA free and designed to be easy to clean.

While the various ‘Will it Blend’ videos show just how powerful the blades are at devastating all manner of household objects, the Blendtec blenders are actually one of the meanest culinary devices on the block as their vaunted ability to blend anything means that you’re able to render ultra smooth Pina Coladas, jams, nut-butters, hummus and more with just the press of a button. While it sounds implausible, the Blendtec blenders are also capable of another trick – cooking soup. By using a particular setting, the blades spin so fast that they generate heat. This heat, along with the pulping action of the blades, helps to create some surprisingly tasty soups.
