The Olympus TG-Tracker 4K camcorder is one ridiculously tough cookie
While the average camcorder isn’t usually built for resilience or durability, the Olympus TG-Tracker action camcorder is built like a tank. Without the need for a cumbersome casing, the TG-Tracker is waterproof to 33 metres, is dust proof, is shockproof and able to survive a 2.1m drop to the deck, is crushproof to 100kgf (meaning it can likely survive the wrath of a Sumo wrestler) and is freezeproof to 14°F / -10°C should you ever have the need to capture action footage in the Arctic.
While you’d reckon that something this heavily armoured would probably cut corners on imaging quality, the TG-Tracker doesn’t and is able to capture 4K video footage for up to 90 minutes on its swappable battery which you can pop out and swap in the field. Video footage is store on SD cards while integrated 5-axis image stabilisation and a flip-out LCD monitor help you angle and get judder free footage.
Befitting its name, the TG-Tracker also has integrated wi-fi along with an internal compass and enhanced GPS for geotracking your footage. There’s no word on price or launch date but we’ll let you know when Olympus Malaysia makes an announcement.
