Time to turn the tables with Sony’s lush PS-HX500 turntable
While all but the most ardent audiophiles maintain a turntable and a vinyl collection to go with it, Sony aims to change all that by rolling out a premium turntable that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Their new PS-HX500, as you’d likely surmise lets you play vinyls, but it does one better as it also lets you rip them into crisp Hi-Res audio files for listening on other platforms.
The PS-HX500 itself has a host of tech to ensure superb audio quality and vinyls sit on a 30mm acoustic plinth spun by a two-speed motor with a 5mm rubber mat for smooth playback. The player itself supports 5.6MHz/1 bit Double-rate and 2.8MHz/1 bit Single-rate DSD audio. The whole affair retails for RM2,699 at Sony stores nationwide.
