TM’s Webe makes official debut with nationwide rollout slated for Q4 2016
While the news has been bandied about for some time along with the release of an interesting social media game that saw people sharing and scanning QR codes to score a bevy of prizes a few months ago, the TM Group officially launched their Webe mobile service plans in Malaysia today in a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
Previously known as P1, Webe’s claim to fame is that they have a one low price tag for unlimited texts, calls and data for a theoretical RM79 per month (RM83.74 inclusive of GST) albeit with some caveats. Only local calls are unlimited in nature while IDD calls are chargeable. Unlimited data is primarily limited to one device; tethering requires you to purchase an RM6 Hotspot pass that has a two hour validity window before requiring another pass. The original plan price for Webe is technically RM199 with the final sum acquired by a series of discounts: being a TM subscriber knocks RM60 off the sum while using any phones from a certified list nets you another RM60 discount.
Subsequent sub-lines get an RM10 discount per month so that the second subline for a Webe subscriber is RM69 per month while the third line is RM59 per month and so on with a limit of up to five sub lines per account. Previously, the plans are open only to T.M customers and P1 users by invite only. Now, interested users can logon to the Webe website to register their interest with a slated nationwide rollout by Q4 2016 which translates to somewhere between October to December this year.
