UGREEN Nexode Retractable Cable and Nexode Pro Power Bank review – Compact and Cute Chargi gear
The recent Honkai: Star Rail collaboration has seen UGREEN issue a variety of their current charger and cable line-up with themed colourways and the character Yao Guang from the game liberally festooned across its various surfaces along with a metallic blue finish. We managed to get our hands on two items out of the five-piece collection and put them to the test.
Here’s our UGREEN Nexode retractable cable and Nexode Pro power bank review where we suss out if their latest collaboration is worth your money
UGREEN Nexode Retractable Cable review
The UGREEN x Honkai: Star Rail Nexode Retractable Cable is functionally identical to the stock variant that’s currently available at all their official channels save for its different metallic blue colourway and the Honkai Star Rail character Yao Guang printed on the side.
The overall finish of the cable consists of a rounded housing with a light metallic blue finish with the character art printed onto the side of the housing. The cables are flat like fettuccine and each end terminates in a USB-C port and is able to extend from both ends out to a maximum of 47cm on each side.
UGREEN has ensured that the cables are built tough and their internal testing has rated the cables able to hold up to 28kg if you ever need to do so while being able to survive up to 25,000+ retractions and over 10,000 bends. On paper, the cables are rated for up to 100W charging. While it looks rather short, the housing has a mechanism that neatly spools up and stores the cable and retracts it back when you’re done. Retracting the cables simply requires a gentle jerk.
Pulling the cable out for charging is a relatively simple task and the cable has relatively low tension so all you need is a gentle pull rather than a robust yank. Pulling one end also extends the other and the cable has four preset lengths – 15cm, 27cm, 38cm and out to the aforementioned 47cm maximum from each end to meet most usage scenarios.
On paper, the cable is rated for up to a 100W charge. When tested with its companion Nexode Pro power bank, it yielded 55W charging speeds to fast charge a Xiaomi 17 via its Mi Turbo charging protocol. When tested with a Galaxy S25 Ultra, it yielded a consistent 35W charge. It was also able to transfer data from a Galaxy S25 Ultra to a Windows laptop.
Even after a week of heavy use being slung about in backpacks and pockets, the printing on the side has remained pristine and both the cables and the retraction mechanism has remained smooth and functional without discernible wear or tear. What makes it appealing is its compact design that helps you keep a decent length of cable about your person in a neat and tidy fashion.
All told, the UGREEN x Honkai: Star Rail Nexode Retractable Cable does the job. While there is no specific official pricing at the time of writing, it will cost more than the standard version which makes it something intended for fans of the game.
UGREEN Nexode Pro Power Bank Review
Like the retractable cable, the UGREEN x Honkai: Star Rail Nexode Pro Power Bank has a metallic blue finish, a light blue integrated USB-C cable and Yao Guang emblazoned on the front just beneath the small display but is otherwise functionally identical to the standard versions with UGREEN’s signature gray finish.
On paper, our UGREEN x Honkai: Star Rail Nexode Pro Power Bank review sample offers 10,000mAh capacity in a small fist-sized form factor. There’s no Magsafe on this design which means charging up gear is solely via the integrated cable or the single USB-A and USB-C port. The front has a small LED display that shows charging speeds and remaining battery capacity while the side has a single power button and a 22cm nylon cable with a clasp that lets you dangle it off a handbag or backpack.
Like other multi-port UGREEN chargers, our UGREEN x Honkai: Star Rail Nexode Pro Power Bank review sample is able to charge up to three products simultaneously off its integrated cable and two charging ports though charging speeds vary. Assuming you charge just one device, the cable and the USB-C port are able to each offer 45W charging speeds while the USB-A port offers 22.5W charging.
If you charge two devices at a time, you get 7.5W charging per port regardless of combination as power is shared between all of the used ports. If you use all three ports, you get 5W per port which is sufficient for charging earbuds and smaller devices.
However, the power bank doesn’t fully support all proprietary fast charging protocols and their user guide does mention that it does not support Oppos’ SuperVOOC, vivo’s FlashCharge or Huawei SuperCharge. Interestingly, it does support Xiaomi’s HyperCharge with 55W charging for compatible Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi phones.
When put to the test, the power bank proved to be a convenient, effective means to top up your phone on the go with its compact design making it easy to tote around in a backpack or handbag. The integrated cable adds a measure of convenience as you don’t have to fish around for a separate cable to charge devices. Of note is that the power bank supports passthrough charging, allowing you to charge the power bank and charge another device off it at the same time.
When tested with a Galaxy S25 Ultra, it was able to recharge to full in about 45 minutes or so and offered enough juice for a full charge with enough remaining for slightly less than half of a full top-up through the day. Your mileage will of course vary depending on what phone or tablet you are charging.
When charged with the UGREEN Nexode 100W GaN charger, the power bank itself needed about two hours for a full charge after running dry at the end of the day.
All in, the UGREEN x Honkai: Star Rail Nexode Pro Power Bank is a capable charger that is compact and light enough for all-day carry, making it ideal for commuters and travellers.
At the time of writing, there’s no official prices just yet but it will cost more than the stock design. If you’re a fan of Honkai: Star Rail, the extra premium may be worth a look but if you’re a more mainstream user, the standard version is a better buy.
