vivo showcases latest technological innovations at Boao Forum for Asia 2026
When it comes to smartphones, vivo isn’t just making them but is looking ahead on the horizon to define what role they play beyond their current capabilities as everyday companions empowered with AI.
In line with that aspiration, vivo showcased their latest Blue Technology Matrix as well as their latest technological achievements including 6G, Mixed Reality imaging tech, intelligent software and more at the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference for 2026 in Hainan, China. Their attendance in 2026 marks their fifth consecutive appearance at Boao Forum.

At the Boao Forum, Hu Baishan, President and Chief Operating Officer at vivo and President of vivo Central Research Institute took the stage to deliver his keynote titled ‘Imaging technology enables the connection of all things: A Visual Dialogue with Physical Reality.’ The keynote outlined vivo’s forward-looking approach to technological evolution, centered on building a perception system rooted in imaging that will advance how computing connects with the physical world.

Hu emphasised that smartphones will remain the dominant medium for human-computer interaction throughout the next decade and will become a sensory hub and personal digital companion that bridges AI with real-world experiences.
As AI evolves, Hu states that it will transition from ‘omniscience’ in the digital dimension to ‘omnipotence’ in the physical dimension with imaging acting as ‘eyes’ for AI to navigate the real world. Their recently launched vivo V70 is an ideal example of their design philosophy.
Based on this vision, vivo has made imaging a strategic priority for their smartphones, headsets and robotics product categories that will define the next chapter of mobile computing as they expand its multi-scenario smart ecosystem and transition towards becoming an ecosystem-based technology platform. Hu emphasised that future devices will evolve from smartphones into Agent phones that act as digital companions with the power of perception, cognition and action.
vivo also shared their insights at two additional forums at Boao Forum for Asia 2026.Zhang Fei, Vice President of Technology at vivo, will participate in the “AI+: Empowering Industrial Upgrading through Digital and Intelligent Technology” session, presenting a panoramic view of where imaging and intelligent software converge. Additionally, Shao Hao, Head of the Robot Lab and Chief Scientist at vivo, will participate in the “Advancement and Breakthrough of Humanoid Robotics” sub-forum to share vivo’s latest R&D progress and future roadmap in the robotics field.
Hu Baishan also officially presented Zhang Jun, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia with the new vivo X300 Ultra that is the official smartphone for the Boao Forum for Asia 2026. For more details check out https://www.vivo.com/my
