Lowlight photography: A little goes a long way
Pro Tip: Taking shots with a smartphone camera under low light or in backlit conditions is usually not the wisest choice for a smartphone camera but the Huawei P30 Pro offers a decisive edge with its potent Leica Quad Camera system that has a maximum ISO sensitivity of 409,600 and a new RYYB sensor for enhanced light sensitivity – easily matching a DSLR and then some. Rather than having to set up a tripod or some other eloborate contraption, the P30 Pro’s powerful camera is quite simply point-and-shoot!

Use that zoom!
Pro Tip: Sometimes you can’t get close enough to a subject to admire its fine details. That’s where excellent optical zoom capabilities come in. By taking a subject up close, you can gain a different perspective that what you would normally see, revealing details or giving focus to a particular area in a picture to draw the eye in and making for a strong composition.
The Huawei P30 series phones have exemplary zoom capabilities with the P30 Pro offering 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and up to 50x zoom when you dial it to maximum. This is on account of a periscope-style assembly for the telephoto camera, allowing for a complete optical zoom lens array without a nasty camera bump.

Get the whole picture (and story) with the P30 Pro ultra wide angle lens
Pro tip: Sometimes you need to take a shot that encompasses the whole landscape as you see it for maximum visual impact. Traditionally, you’ll need to take a step (or several) back but the 20-MP 16mm equivalent ultra wide angle lens on the P30 Pro allows you to go wide – ideal for beautiful scenery shots. If needed, the P30 Pro’s camera can automatically enter supermacro mode when it and the subject are 2.5cm apart for super close-ups!

Awesome bokeh with the P30 Pro’s ToF camera
Shots with a beautifully defocused background while keeping the subject crisp in the foreground are usually require an expensive DSLR camera and lens but the Huawei P30 Pro uses its Time of Flight (ToF) camera and some computational AI magic to deliver precise blurred backgrounds and more accurate bokeh effects that help give shots that extra zing. To take advantage of the ToF camera, try using Portrait mode for the P30 Pro and place your subject no more than 2 metres from the camera for best results.

Stunning backlit photos with Huawei’s AI HDR+ feature
A strongly backlit picture can give a very strong creative effect when done right but leaves the subject in the foreground with blown out highlights. The Huawei P30 series phones sport AI HDR+ technology, which employs AI-assisted photography to identify elements in a shot be it faces, buildings and the sun in order to create an exposure map and intelligently apply it to brighten up shadows and minimise blown up highlights. All you have to do is to select HDR mode, wait for the subject in question to be in sharp focus and shoot!
