Xiaomi’s stunning Mi 8 launches in Malaysia at RM1,599
A common indicator of the price of a smartphone is usually what kind of hardware it packs under the hood with something coming with the latest Snapdragon processors usually costing a princely sum. In the case of Xiaomi’s latest flagship phone, the Mi 8, it is a pleasant anomaly as it has some extremely powerful hardware indeed, including a Snapdragon 845 processor at a surprisingly low price tag.
The Mi 8 phone comes with some very impressive hardware for a price tag that starts somewhere from a grand and a half and up for some pretty darned good hardware. You get a 6.21-inch FHD+ AMOLED Samsung-manufactured display with a notch up front sheathed in aerospace-grade aluminium, the latest and most powerful Snapdragon SoC on the market, the SD845 SoC and a rear dual 12-MP camera setup enhanced by AI along with a front-facing 20-MP camera that uses pixel binning for better low light shots.
Keeping things running is a 3,400mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ support. For Malaysia, you get your choice of a 6GB RAM/64GB variant retailing for RM1,599 and a better specced 6GB RAM/ 128GB version for RM1,899 in your choice of Black and Blue with a shade of White coming later on in the year.
