ZTE launches their flagship Axon 7 phone for RM1,999

ZTE is fast gaining a presence in the local market and has just launched their flagship Axon 7 phone in Malaysia. The phone comes with some ogle-worthy specs that would give anyone pause.  A 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixel resolution sheathed in Gorilla Glass 4 takes centre stage. The phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (upgradable to Nougat 7.0) on a Snapdragon 820 2.15GHz processor paired with, an Adreno 530GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB on onboard storage supplemented by a hybrid SIM card slot. A variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB exists though it won’t be coming to Malaysia.

The rear camera aims to trump everyone in the competition with a 20-MP Samsung sourced ISO-cell sensor and an F/1.8 lens with OIS and EIS, a dual LED flash and the ability to capture 2160@30fps video.

Like other flagship class phones, it also sports a fingerprint reader perched on the rear just below the 20-MP camera with a 0.25 second unlock time. The front facing selfie camera has an 8-MP sensor and an F/2.2 lens capable of capturing 1080p video.

Of note is that it comes with two front-facing speakers flanking the display beefed up with Dolby Atmos audio tech. Keeping things running along is a 3,250mAh non-removable battery that is juiced by a USB Type-C port that also supports fast charge 3.0 tech. The Axon 7 launches in Ion Gold with a unibody aluminium casing that, according to ZTE, designed by the same team that makes car designs for BMW. It also ships with a TPU casing and screen protector bundled with the box. A Quartz Grey variant will come later to Malaysia in October. The Axon 7  will retail for RM1,999 at retailers nationwide.
