Hands-on with OPPO’s R9S Black Edition
OPPO’s latest variant of the R9S banks on the universal appeal of the colour black as well as the star power fronting it in the form of Malaysian celebrity Neelofa. As a phone, the R9s is a sound sub-RM2,000 camphone and one of the more viable options if you’re after a phone with a wide F/1.7 aperture with phase detection autofocus to get better shots. The R9S Black Edition is functionally similar to the standard R9S in almost every way bar its aesthetics which have been altered with an all-black matte looking paint job from top to bottom with the OPPO logo engraved in silver on the rear.
We’ve reviewed the phone before but this is the first time we’ve laid eyes on the black variant. The finish is fairly fingerprint resistant and the phone does have an understated classy look about it. The R9S Black Edition is open for preorders tomorrow on 3rd May on their official online store and dealers nationwide. In the meantime, here’s a few shots of how it looks like to whet your appetite. Should the R9S Black Edition float your boat, you can swing by to their official preorder site here to place an order. Early birds will get a mystery gift.
