MediaTek showcases powerful Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship chipset at Malaysia Tech Day 2026

MediaTek has come a long way in the market from their humble origins and their increased deployment in flagship phones and tablets across a variety of manufacturers is a testament to their success. The brand recently hosted a Malaysia Tech Day 2026 where invited guests were able to get a gander and a closer look at their crown jewel, the top-of-the-line Dimensity 9600 Pro that will see service in upcoming next-generation smartphones in the market.

What is the Dimensity 9600 Pro?

For the uninitiated, the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro is a flagship mobile chipset built on a sophisticated 2nm process that consists of a 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU design that consists of a pair of C2-Ultra 4.55GHz cores, a trio of C2-Pro 4.35GHz cores and a trio of C2-Pro 3.1GHz cores that collectively offer up to 17% higher single-core and 15% higher multi-core performance over its predecessor the Dimensity 9500. The new chipset is also rated for next-generation LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage.

The new Dimensity 9600 Pro also features the Imagiq 1290 ISP and AI Imaging Fusion Architecture for improved computational photography and content creation along with the G2-Ultra NX GPU for 27% higher peak performance, 24% lower power consumption and 18% faster ray-tracing for up to 185fps gaming.

With AI being at the forefront of an increasing number of tasks, the Dimensity 9600 Pro also features its NPU 1090 capable of running up to 30 billion parameter LLMs locally and that is capable of 51% faster prefill performance and support for Google’s on-device AISeal security architecture to offer faster responses and improved privacy.

Also showcased was the Dimensity 9600M which is built on a proven 3nm process and which leverages a 1+3+4 core layout from the older Dimensity 9500 chipset and is rated to support up to LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.

At present, the Dimensity 9600 Pro will see service in next generation flagships that include the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max as well as the vivo X500 Pro and Pro Max while the Dimensity 9600M will power base model flagships like the vivo X500 and OPPO Find X10.
