Casetify Custom MacBook Case Review – Quality Case Gets Your Glam Game Up for RM447
Laptops are high ticket items that are expected to last several years, Apple MacBooks all the more so seeing their cost and their robust build quality though casings made for it often end up as dodgy low quality affairs. Enter Casetify.
We got our hands on one of Casetify’s new protective cases designed specifically for MacBooks and took it for a whirl on our daily work commute for the past couple of weeks. If you’re on the hunt for a protective MacBook case, here’s our Casetify Custom MacBook case review where we share our findings on if their US$94 case is worth what you pay for.
Casetify Custom MacBook Case Review
As you’d likely surmise from its nomenclature, the Casetify Custom MacBook case needs to be specially ordered on their website as it offers a degree of customisability with the option for you to acquire a thinner but cheaper Snap case for US$66 (about RM314) or the chunkier and pricier Bounce case for US$94 (about RM447).
Our Casetify Custom MacBook case review sample consisted of the latter customised for a circa-2022 MacBook Air 13.6 laptop. The case can also be ordered for the original MacBook Air all the way to more recent models of the MacBook Pro on the Casetify website.
In addition to the type of case, you’re also able to add in up to 8 characters on the top lid as well as modify the style, font, text colour and layout to some degree to taste. This leaves you enough options for your initials though seeing as one of my colleagues also rocks a similar MacBook Air 13.6, I needed something more distinctive.
When my Casetify Custom MacBook case review sample arrived, it fit like a glove. Closer inspection of the case revealed the top lid hosting thick rubber bumpers on each corner and a 1.8mm thick polycarbonate casing that snaps on snugly to the laptop.
Of note is that the screen-printing on the top lid is of high quality and even after heavy use after a couple of weeks being toted about in backpacks about town, the screen-printing hasn’t faded in any way.
The underside portion of the case is bare of any printing and a set of rubberised feet that layer on top of the existing ones to prevent wear and tear along with raised rubber bumpers on each corner. Like the top lid, the bottom portion snaps on easily to the base of the laptop to create a protective clamshell.
While it looks sturdy enough to survive a drop, it’s certainly not something I’d deliberately dare to do for a lark. After extended testing toting it about for several days, I found the case added quite a bit of weight to the MacBook though the added peace of mind seeing its protective capabilities makes it well worth the trade.
Protective qualities aside, the case allows for unimpeded access to its left and right ports through strategic cutouts and does not interfere with the keyboard.
Should you buy the Casetify Custom MacBook case?
If you’re looking for a protective case that has a degree of customisability to it, the Casetify Custom MacBook case is worthy of consideration.
While it does offer added peace of mind and enhanced protection, it is also somewhat heavy and comes at a premium but seeing that MacBooks are typically long-term investments, getting a quality case like this simply makes for a more prudent insurance policy to keep your laptop safe.
