New Huawei Watch Ultimate Green Edition, Watch GT 5 Pro and MatePad Pro 12.2 revealed in Barcelona; coming soon to Malaysia
Huawei is certainly full of surprises and their latest launch in Barcelona themed ‘Fashion Forward’ saw them releasing a revamped Huawei Watch Ultimate Green Edition as well as their latest generation Watch GT 5 Pro and Watch GT 5 along with the MatePad Pro 12.2 tablet that has a redesigned keyboard case and enhanced stylus.

Intended as the successor to last year’s Watch GT 4 series, the revamped Watch GT 5 as well as the higher end Watch GT 5 Pro series watches feature a Huawei TruSense System that has improved health and fitness tracking and your choice of about a ten different variants with different sizes and finishes with the Pro variants coming with more premium titanium and ceramic materials along with matching ceramic straps and stainless steel straps while the baseline models feature fabric, stainless steel and composite leather.
Of note is an enhanced IP69K dust and water resistance rating for the whole range along with an EN13319 rating which works out to about 40 meters of water resistance which adds quite a bit of durability to the designs for daily use.
The Watch GT 5 Pro comes in a large 46mm size with 1.43-inch AMOLED display along with a slightly larger battery while the 42mm version packs a 1.32-inch AMOLED display. The smaller Watch GT 5 comes in either 46mm and 41mm sizes with matching display sizes to their Pro counterparts.
The new Huawei TruSense System this time around has the usual round of sleep and fitness tracking along with ECG, heart rate tracking, sleep apnea, SP02 and new this time around is Emotional Wellbeing where it uses a number of biometric factors to see if you’re Pleasant, Neutral or Unpleasant for a given day with matching coloured watch faces.

The Pro variant watches also notably has the ability to track outdoor workouts including routes taken with the Pro versions featuring a sophisticated golf course map function that can help track swings and also topography for a given course, a Freediving mode for divers and more. In terms of endurance,the Watch GT 5 series are rated for up to 14 days for the larger models and 7 days for the smaller sized 42mm Pro and 42mm ones.
The Huawei Watch Ultimate Green is essentially the same as its predecessors save for a green colourway and a dual woven antibacterial strap with the new addition of golf course tracking and even an AI coach to help improve your swing.
Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 specs
Of greater interest is the revamped Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 tablet that notably features a 12.2-inch Tandem OLED PaperMatte OLED display with 2,000 nits peak brightness and a redesigned keyboard case with touchpad that has a double hinge that offers four different ways to prop it up from the usual kickstand style with two possible angles all the way to two angled easel-style configurations for artists.
On that note, the tablet also ships with a third generation M-Pencil stylus that works in -hand with the bundled GoPaint app that offers dozens of new brush templates for aspiring artists. At an early hands-on the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 felt extremely polished with its white satin smooth finish and both the display, stylus and felt responsive indeed though there were no specifications mentioned.
At present, there’s no official prices for any of the mentioned products though Huawei Malaysia has announced that the Huawei Watch GT 5 series, the Ultimate Green Edition and the MatePad Pro 12.2 tablet will have exclusive deals for early birds starting from today until 25 September 2024.

Each order of the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2-inch comes with free gifts worth up to RM1,847 on all platforms.
