TP-LINK outs massive quad-core router at MWC 2017
While everyone’s eye is on the latest smartphones to grace the coming year, TP-LINK has outed their behemoth C5400X 1.8GHz 65-bit quad-core router. Resembling as much an art deco sculpture that you’d usually see on the wide avenues of Las Ramblas in Barcelona where it was unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2017, the Archer C5400X is, according to TP-LINK, the world’s most powerful Wi-Fi router as it is faster, stronger, more secure and stable than anything else yet hewn.
The router sports a 1.8GHz 65-bit quad-core processor that consists of a quarter of Broadcom Cotex-A53 chips that work to coordinate processes while transmitting on three separate wireless bands for speeds of up to a whopping 5,334Mbps. This is split into the 1,000Mbps 2.4GHz band and two 2,167Mbps 5Ghz bands for 4K streaming and gaming. The router also has 16GB of internal storage and eight Gigabit ports to deliver up to 1,000Mbps to connected devices. To maximise security, it has a separate Security Processing Unit chip to handle data encryption and decryption on VPN packets in addition to Bluetooth connectivity so you can set up the router via your phone. No word on price or availability in Malaysia yet but we’ll let you know.
