Revamped Apple 8th Gen iPad 10.2 sports A12 Bionic chip and priced from RM1,449
Apple’s new iPad Air was a stunning reveal that had jaws dropping across the globe but for those looking for a bit more affordable, Apple has revamped their iPad series with the new 8th Gen iPad which has a beefed up A12 Bionic processor that adds their Neural Engine to the slate.
The 8th Gen iPad comes with a 10.2-inch Retina display with 2,160 x 1,520 pixel resolution which isn’t significantly changed from its immediate predecessor released last year. Other retained features include the rear 8MP rear camera and front facing 1.2MP selfie camera with your choice of either WiFi only, Cellular and WiFi as well as Touch ID support via the front mounted home button. Alas unlike the iPad Air, the 8th Gen iPad will be using a conventional Lightning port.
The biggest upgrade to the whole affair is the A12 Bionic processor. According to Apple, the A12 Bionic processor is 3x faster than the ‘top selling Android tablet’, twice as fast as the ‘top-selling Windows laptop’ while offering a 40% faster CPU and 3x faster graphics processing than its predecessor the 7th gen iPad. The addition of a Neural Engine with the A12 Bionic processor adds in machine learning capabilities, enhanced photo editing, better Siri performance and more.
Along with the new A12 Bionic, the 8th Gen iPad will be running Apple’s new iPadOS 14 that brings in enhanced capabilities for the Apple Pencil that ensures better, more intuitive and feature-packed note-taking, enhanced text recognition and a ‘Scribble to iPad’ feature that lets users write in any text field to make replying to messages or searching in Safari a lot simple and easier. There’s also the new Universal Search mode, revamped sidebars and a host of other features that make using the new 8th Gen iPad much easier too.
