Asus launches Zephyrus M GM501 and TUF FX504 Gaming notebooks in Malaysia
Asus Malaysia today took the wraps off , both of which are designed to offer price points for gamers at all levels while offering the latest eight generation Intel Core processors. The range was spearheaded by two exceptional offerings, the premium and exceptionally light Zephyrus M GM501 and the affordable range of TUF FX504 gaming rigs.
Asus Zephyrus M GM501
The Zephyrus M GM501 is their latest gaming rig and notably sports the latest Intel eight gen processors to keep things at a suitably nippy pace combined with a large IPS display with exceptionally swift refresh rates and response time to make it a capable portable gaming rig. The notebook weighs about 2.45kg and comes in two sub configurations that differ primarily based GPU.
In general, it comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS 144Hz panel with 3ms response time, an eighth gen Intel Core i7-8750H processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and either an NVIDIA GeForce GTX1070 GPU with 8GB GDDR5 VRAM or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 GPU with 6GB GDDR5 VRAM. One particular refinement that Asus was proud to highlight was the enhanced cooling as the design as it incorporates a 9mm air chamber that offers more air flow while Asus’ own Anti Dust Cooling (ADC) self-cleaning system expels dust and dirt. In keeping with its emphasis on cooling it has a series of micro-drilled holes just above the keyboard to further help with cooling.
The ASUS Zephyrus M GM501 retails for RM7,999 for the variant with the GTX1060 GPU and RM9,299 for the variant with the GTX1070 GPU.
ASUS TUF Gaming FX504
The ASUS TUF Gaming rig aims to offer an affordable entry point for gaming while delivering decent amounts of performance that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
The notebook comes in a variety of configurations though the top-of-the-line FX504GE variant comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with 250 nits brightness, an eighth generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor, an NVIDIA GTX 1050TI with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM, 4GB RAM upgradable to 32GB RAM and a 128GB PCIE SSD paired with a 1TB Firecuda Hybrid SSHD. All this clocks in at RM4,399.
The entry-level variant FX504GD configuration is externally similar but comes with a slightly less bright 15.6-inch Full HD TN 200 nit display, an Intel Core i5-8300H processor, an NVIDIA GTX 1050 GPU with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM along with a similar 4GB RAM that is also upgradable to 32GB RAM. Storage is pared down to a 1TB Firecuda Hybrid SSHD. This entry-level variant retails for RM3,299.
What is common across all variants is that they all have Asus’ own Anti-Dust Cooling system that helps ensure stable long term performance by cleaning up the gubbins before they get too gunked up with dust and dirt.
In keeping with its moniker, the TUF Gaming notebook’s full sized keyboard have all been beefed up for extended endurance. According to Asus, it’s rated to survive over 20 million key presses; double the standard industry lifespan.
The top lid and the rest of its design also has a more robust finish with brushed aluminium accents. Of note is that it also comes with 7.1-channel surround sound when you plug in a suitable pair of cans as well as Wifi 802.11ac Wave 2 for faster data transfer rates at up to 1.7GBps.
