New ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition UX5401Z takes you to the stars from RM5,599
The fact that ASUS has been making laptops for years is certainly an understatement as some of their earliest models accompanied astronauts into orbit with their venerable P6300 making its way to the MIR space station in 1997. To commemorate that auspicious event, ASUS has issued a unique, classier looking variant dubbed the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition that’s now available in Malaysia.
What is the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition UX5401Z
The new ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition UX5401Z differs from its more conventional siblings with a significantly different and unique set of packaging that makes it even more premium than usual along with several other additional goodies including a cardboard laptop stand on top of a uniquely designed outer and inner box along with a distinctive design that holds multiple Easter eggs that commemorate ASUS’s journey into space.
Aesthetically speaking, the finish uses a shade of what they call Zero-G Titanium and has a mono OLED display up front that allows you to display short messages. The chassis itself is also built to MIL-STD 810H standards as well as a new SMC-S-016A rating from the USAF Space Command and Missile Systems branch of the US Military that ensures its spaceworthy.
The rest of the hardware consists of a 14-inch 2.8K Pantone validated OLED touchscreen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The laptop also features the 12th Gen Intel i7-12700H processor paired with 16GB RAM, Iris XE graphics and a 1TB SSD. A more affordable variant exists with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12500H processor with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.
For those looking for a more conventional laptop, ASUS has also refreshed their conventional Zenbook with OLED displays, their useful NumberPad 2.0 touchpad that doubles as a numeric keypad and 180-degree lay-flat Ergolift hinges.
The Zenbook 14 OLED costs RM4,499 and gets you a 14-inch 2.8K NanoEdge 90Hz non-touch OLED display with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1260P 2.1GHz processor paired with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB SSD, Iris Xe graphics along with fast WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. A more affordable version with an i5-1240P 1.7GHz CPU and a 512GB SSD is available for RM4,399.
ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition UX5401Z Price in Malaysia
In Malaysia, the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is available in two variants that are otherwise similar save for a different CPU and storage. The higher end version with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700H processor running the latest Windows 11 Home, 16GB DDR5 RAM that is soldered in and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 x 4 NVMe M.2 SSD as well as Iris Xe graphics costs RM6,499. The more affordable variant uses a slightly less powerful 12th Gen I5-12500H CPU and has a 512GB SSD for RM5,599.
