Sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 confirmed as Project Orion
If you have been hankering for more opportunities to visit the dystopian future in Cyberpunk 2077 and aren’t satisfied with the release of just one expansion pack, fret not as CD Projekt Red has announced in a strategy update for investors that they have a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 dubbed as Project Orion.
What is the Project Orion sequel for Cyberpunk 2077?
There isn’t much official news about Project Orion beyond the official statement and a post on Twitter stating that ‘Orion is a codename for our next Cyberpunk game, which will take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe’.
Some other details inferred are that Project Orion will move on from Cyberpunk 2077’s current REDengine with the last project for the game being the Phantom Liberty DLC. Project Orion will be developed using Unreal Engine 5.
The strategy update also mentions a new addition to the Witcher franchise dubbed as ‘Project Sirius’ that will ‘tell an unforgettable story for existing Witcher fans and new audiences’. Another addition to the Witcher franchise is something dubbed as ‘Project Polaris’ which is a story-driven open-world RPG. Another addition to the Witcher franchise is something they’ve referred to as ‘Project Canis Majoris’, which is a single-player open-world RPG. Beyond these top-level statements, no official mentions of these new projects have been mentioned.
Beyond these two established franchises, CPR also announced a new franchise dubbed as ‘Project Hadar‘ that is their own IP that is distinctly different from the Cyberpunk and Witcher franchises. You can check out the official video below
