Dell G5 Desktop brings glorious gaming in a compact form factor this August
The ongoing 11th Gamescom trade show in Germany saw quite a few surprises, among them the launch of a bevy of Dell and their gamer-centric Alienware gaming monitors as well as the release of the Dell G5 Gaming Desktop which aims to offer an affordable entry point for gamers looking for a decent gaming rig that won’t cost an arm, a leg and a kidney.
Externally, the Dell G5 desktop sports a dark metallic finish with some modest blue lighting here and there across its surprisingly compact tower-style chassis that is about 14.5-inches high, 6.7-inches wide and about 12 inches deep. It’s not all bling as Dell has thoughtfully designed the G5 to be ideal for gamers.
A front panel hosts a series of USB ports as well as audio and mic jacks allow for immediate access. The side panels are removable for easy access to the internals and belying its compact size, the G5 tower has two 2.5-inch hard drive bays and an M.2 slot. Optionally you can swap out the stock side panel for a transparent glass one to give it a bit more gamer bling.
Aesthetics aside, you can kit the Dell G5 desktop with the latest 9th Gen Intel processors from a modest i3-9100 all the way up to an Intel Core i9-9900K, up to 64GB DDR4 2,666MHz RAM though you stock models start at 8GB of DDR4 RAM, up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPU with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM and a host of single and dual storage drive options culminating in a 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD and a 2TB SATA hard disk. Keeping it juiced is either a 360W or 460W power supply, depending on how deep your pockets go along with an 80mm CPU cooling fan.
There’s no word on exact prices or possible configurations yet but Dell Malaysia has said that prices for the Dell G5 desktop start in on the ground floor at RM3,999 with availability slated sometime near the end of August 2019. For more details swing by www.dell.com.my
