Details of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 tablet surface ahead of MWC 2017
Mobile World Congress is usually the time when Samsung reveals the details of their next generation Galaxy S-series phone but this time around they’ve changed the tempo of their operations. Instead of the new Galaxy S8, they’re teasing silhouettes of a larger, hexagonal device – ergo the Tab S3.
Now, images have surfaced of both the front of the device from German tech site WinFuture. The purported Tab S3 will likely be a successor to the older Tab S2 series tablets that came in two different sizes. According to the source, the Tab S3 will come only in one size – a 9.7-inch, 1,536 x 2,048 pixel Super AMOLED display paired with a Snapdragon 820 processor running Android Nougat 7.0, 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage space with a rear 12-MP camera along with a front 5-MP camera. The base comes with Samsung’s usual lozenge-shaped home button which doubles as a fingerprint reader.
According to the source, the slate will likely come in differently size storage variants (there may be a 64GB or 128GB variant) in black, possibly white and a new silver finish and also in Wi-Fi-only and LTE-enabled variants too so there’s quite a few possible permutations to play with.
The key feature it has though is apparently an S Pen stylus though where the stylus well is on the casing is not apparent on the leaked images. The price tag for this is unconfirmed but will likely run around the region of USD580 which translates to about RM2,580. More details on the elusive slate when MWC rolls around near the end of February.
