Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24 and S24 Plus – Materials

The new Galaxy S24 series come with a number of key upgrades from the older Galaxy S23 series. The biggest difference is in the materials used for the Galaxy S24 Ultra which now has a titanium frame and uses the new Corning Gorilla Armor glass for the display that also reduces reflections by 75%.

The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus both use an improved Armor Aluminum 2 alloy for their chassis that is slightly tougher than the earlier Armor Aluminum in prior flagship phones and retains the use of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to protect their displays.

They’re still touch and scratch resistant though the Gorilla Armor Glass in the Galaxy S24 Ultra edges out slightly more in durability and scratch resistance. Common across the board is an IP68 dust and water resistance rating

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24 and S24 Plus – Displays

Across the board, the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series all useLTPO Amoled displays which offer a 2,600 nits peak brightness and a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate that offers much better power efficiency.

The Galaxy S24’s 6.8-inch display is 0.1-inches larger than the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S24 Plus with its 6.7-inch display also enjoys a 0.1-inch size increase over its predecessor on account of slimmer bezels for both models.

The top of the line Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 6.8-inch display is the same size but is completely flat which makes using the S Pen stylus easier whereas its predecessor the Galaxy S23 Ultra had steep curves on its sides.

Both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus both use Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to protect the display while the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s use of Corning Gorilla Armor on the display also helps to reduce reflectiveness by 75%, making it much easier to see.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24 and S24 Plus – Battery

The biggest upgrades in terms of battery life are reserved for the smaller Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus. The Galaxy S24 has a 4,000mAh battery which is 100mAh larger than the Galaxy S23 but sticks with slower 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charger and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

The midsized Galaxy S24 Plus has a 4,900mAh battery that’s 200mAh larger than its predecessor with 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging speeds.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra retains the same 5,000mAh battery with the same 45W wired charging, 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging speeds as the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24 and S24 Plus – Cameras

Interestingly enough, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a mostly similar camera setup to its predecessor the Galaxy S23 Ultra but swaps out the prior 10MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom for a larger 50MP telephoto camera with 5x zoom while keeping the other 10MP with 3x optical zoom camera and its 200MP primary camera and 12MP ultra wide angle camera.

The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus have otherwise identical camera and sensor setups to its predecessor with a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra wide angle camera and a 10MP camera with 3x optical zoom. The entire Galaxy S24 series all use the same 12MP front camera with Dual Pixel autofocus for selfies. 

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24 and S24 Plus – Processors

For Malaysia, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus use Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 processor while the Galaxy S24 Ultra uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy which is a custom variant that is clocked faster than the stock version specific only to Samsung.

The Exynos 2400 compares favourably to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy with higher stability in synthetic benchmark stress tests. In day to day performance and even under the most intensive scenarios like gaming, users of any of the three Galaxy S24 series phones still get flagship-grade performance.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24 and S24 Plus – RAM and storage

For Malaysia, Samsung has standardised 256GB as the base level of storage for the entire Galaxy S24 series. The Galaxy S24 sticks with 8GB RAM while the Galaxy S24 Plus has 12GB RAM with both phones featuring 256Gb and 512GB storage options. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra also has 12GB RAM and has three storage options 256GB, 512GB and 1TB with the last being an online exclusive.

Both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus share similar colourways with four general issue paint jobs and three online exclusives unique to the Samsung online store. You get to pick from Cobalt Violet, Amber Yellow, Onyx Black and Marble Gray for the four general issue colours and your choice of Sapphire Blue, Jade Green and Sandstone Orange as exclusives.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra has its own unique set of colourways with your choice of Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Violet and Titanium Yellow as general issue colours as well as a Titanium Blue, Titanium Green and Titanium Orange paint job as online exclusives for the Samsung online store.
