Here’s how the new Honor Magic6 Pro NanoCrystal Shield makes damaged screens a thing of the past

At the recent Honor Magic6 Pro media preview ahead of its impending Malaysia launch, the brand showcased all the salient aspects of the phone including a super slim 5,600mAh Silicon Carbon Battery 2.0, a refreshed Magic OS 8.0 UI with enhanced functionality and an enhanced triple camera setup but what took the cake was just how tough they’ve made the phone display that has been protected with what they are referring to as NanoCrystal Shield glass.

At the event, the Honor Magic6 Pro NanoCrystal Shield glass on its display was taken through the wringer with guests invited to pick from an array of surgical instruments including a razor sharp scalpel, scissors and more to see if they could even scratch the phone.

In close to 20 minutes of non-stop battering from over enthusiastic testers, the phone was able to shrug off direct stabs from sharp instruments, slam stapler rounds completely flat like a hammer and shrug off drops that would have totaled another phone.

On paper, the NanoCrystal Shield itself is rated to be 10x stronger than conventional glass against drops and scratches thanks to the use of a layer of silicon carbide of the display glass itself and in the short demonstration, it certainly proved its point.

At the Honor Magic6 Pro NanoCruystal Shield demonstration they showcased a demo where knives were dropped face down on the phone and a competing phone. The results were impressive.

While it wasn’t done live onsite, Honor also dropped over two dozen razor sharp chef knives pointy tip down over a standard phone and the Honor Magic6 Pro. Every dropped knife bounced off Honor’s phone while one ended up an inch deep straight into the standard phone.

According to Honor, the NanoCrystal Shield on the Honor Magic6 Pro is rated to be the industry’s most drop-resistant display which, in plain English means that it is currently the toughest display in a smartphone currently in the market. In fact, it packs a 5-star SGS Glass Drop Resistance Ability Certificate in multiple scenarios which is impressive.

Durability aside, the display on the Magic6 Pro is suitably well appointed as it uses a 6.8-inch LTPO Quad Curved panel with 2,800 x 1,280 pixels resolution, a smooth 120Hz dynamic refresh rate and superb colour reproduction with a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and a brilliant 5,000 nits Peak HDR Brightness.

It’s also eyesafe too with a TUV Rheinland Circadian Friendly, Full Care Display and Flicker Free Certification to make it easy on the eyes.
