Upcoming HONOR X9b tough phone to appear in War on Terror KL Anarchy film
Tough drop-proof phones are an elusive grail that phone makers have thus far not fully achieved yet short of slapping on a protective casing but the new HONOR X9b that will be arriving in Malaysia soon may be tough enough to possibly shrug off small arms. Seeing its exceptional durability, HONOR has stated that the upcoming Malaysian film War on Terror KL Anarchy will prominently feature their upcoming phone with the movie arriving in theatres this 23rd November 2023.
How tough is the HONOR X9b
In teasers leading up to the launch of the HONOR X9b, the brand has shown guests using the new phone to split apart wooden blocks, smash open seafood and shrug off paintball rounds though another teaser will show the phone will potentially take a bullet.
Its predecessor, the HONOR X9a was tough enough that the front display was easily able to smash open macadamia shells and walnuts. Where the HONOR X9b trumps its predecessor is that not only will its display be toughened but its chassis too with the tagline ‘All-angle Ultra Tough’ hinting at its durability and its b ‘suffix’ indicating that its durability is ‘beyond toughness which makes for an impressive feat.
According to statements, the HONOR X9b will have an ‘Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop display that with 360-degree device toughness that protects both the front and rear display while wraparound cushioning, single-point reinforcement protection and deep seal protection protect not only the display but the frame and internal components, allowing for protection from up to 1.2 times the impact of a drop.
Apparently, the phone is the world’s first smartphone to have a 5-star all-angle drop resistance certificate by SGS in Switzerland.
Exact specifications are scarce for now but if it’s akin to its predecessor, the HONOR X9b will likely be a midrange phone albeit one with absurdly good levels of damage resistance.
At a live field test at a paintball arena, the HONOR X9b was rated to be able to smash 200 wooden boards in twain and was able to survive a whopping 2,500 direct hits from a paintball round which is quite a feat.
