Huawei reclaims primacy as top smartphone brand in China for 2025

Huawei’s fortunes have waxed and waned over the years but things are looking up for them in the Year of the Fire Horse as the latest report from IDC has shown that the brand has outperformed Apple in China last year in 2025 and officially reclaiming the title as China’s top smartphone brand after a five-year hiatus.

According to the most recent IDC report on the China Smartphone market which calculates company shipments, market share and year-on-year growth for 2025, Huawei maintained steady growth throughout 2025 with 46.7 million units shipped and a market share of 16.4% in China. Apple followed closely with 46.2 million units shipped and 16.2% of the market. vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo each respectively secured third, fourth and fifth position.

Huawei is also looking to expand their horizons locally with the launch of their Mate X7 foldable flagship in the near future, slated for 20 January 2026.
