Powerful new Huawei MateBook D 16, Matepad Pro 13.2 2024, FreeClip and more officially launch in Malaysia
Huawei Malaysia are kicking things into high gear for the new year with the deployment of not one but four new devices across the range. For 2024, the new Huawei MateBook D 16 with 13th Gen Intel Core i9 CPUs, the revamped MatePad Pro 13 2024 tablet, FreeClip wireless earbuds as well as the Huawei Watch GT 4 41mm Light Gold all made their official debut in a gala event at The Exchange TRX.

We’ve previously reviewed the refreshed Huawei MatePad D 16 and it uses their proven chassis melded with a revamped array of hardware that consists of either the 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H or the 13th Gen i5-13420H or i5-13420H processor paired with up to 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to a 1TB SSD.
The laptop retains the large 16-inch IPS LCD which has a 16:10 aspect ratio ideal for work and a generously sized 70Wh battery as well as a full-sized keyboard that hosts a numeric keypad which makes it an effective workhorse. You can check out our review of the top of the line variant here.

Also in keeping with the workhorse array of new gear, the new Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 is intended as a premium tablet with an array of additional gear that turns it into a device ideal for artists as well as mobile workers looking for an ultralight productivity platform.
In terms of hardware, the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 2024 aka the MatePad Pro 13 2024 is just 5.5mm thin and weighs just 580g, making it extremely portable. It also ships with a free 3rd Gen M-Pencil stylus that has an improved 10,000 levels of pressure sensitivity thanks to Huawei’s new NearLink tech along with a detachable wireless keyboard that comes with a touchpad, allowing it to be used in a more comfortable fashion. What endears the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 to content creators is its brilliantly vibrant and colour accurate 13.2-inch Huawei X-True Flexible OLED display. Under the hood, the tablet runs their own HarmonyOS firmware on their own in-house Kirin 9000s processor paired with 12GB RAM and either 512GB or 256GB of storage.
Keeping it powered is a 10,00mAh battery with 88W Huawei SuperCharge fast charging. Of note for desktop jockeys is the fact that it ships with a free copy of PC-like WPS Office suite that offers a full set of desktop menu options for the usual document, spreadsheet and presentation apps akin to a PC.
Huawei FreeClip and Watch GT 4 41mm Light Gold Specifications
Also officially launched are their new FreeClip wireless earbuds that have a C-bridge design open that has up to 36 hours of battery life, uses AI Crystal-Clear call tech for clear phone calls while featuring a robust IP54 dust and water resistance rating which makes it relatively splashproof.
In Malaysia, Huawei will be offering the FreeClip in either a metallic purple or black colourway. Huawei also announced their Watch GT 4 41mm Light Gold which is a newly issued variant which has an aesthetic refresh that features a light gold hued dial and bezels along with a metallic strap. Of note is the fact that it and its other Watch GT 4 siblings will have integration with Touch ‘n Go eWallet to allow for QR payments straight off the watch itself.

In terms of pricing, Huawei Malaysia have announced that the new MatePad D 16 2024 laptop will come at RM5,299 for the 13th Gen i9 variant and from RM2,899 for the 13th Gen i5 variants with up to RM2,144 in in free gifts if you preorder the i9 version from now until 2nd February 2024 while you can score the free preorder gifts for the i5 version if you preorder before 18th January 2024.
The MatePad Pro 13.2 2024 will be available priced at RM4,999 for the 512GB variant in green and RM4,599 for the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 2024 256GB variant in black with preorders available from now until 25th January 2024 with up to RM3,145 in free gifts.
The Huawei FreeClip is now available nationwide priced at RM899 with RM357 in free gifts. Last but not least, the new Huawei Watch GT 4 41mm Light Gold will be available priced at RM1,299.
