Huawei Watch GT 4, Watch Ultimate and MatePad 11 Papermatte Edition tablet launched in Malaysia

In a gala event in one of Malaysia’s tallest buildings overlooking the Kuala Lumpur skyline, Huawei Malaysia has officially launched their Watch GT 4 smartwatch that blends exceptional fitness tracking capabilities with contemporary design, the innovative MatePad 11 PaperMatte Edition that has a finish that has undergone a unique process to create a paperlike texture for superior tactility. They also released a surprising new device from out of left field dubbed the Huawei Watch Ultimate that takes the concept of a premium smartwatch and dials it to 11 with gold inlay.

Huawei Watch GT 4 Malaysia specs and availability

The Huawei Watch GT 4 comes in 46mm and 41mm sizes, both of which feature cases hewn from stainless steel case that are rated for 5 ATM which allows it to be used at the pool along with IP68 dust and water resistance.

Where other digital watch makers tend to keep all the best features of a watch locked into their own ecosystem, the Huawei Watch GT 4 series plays nice with other Android and even iOS phones too with all of its myriad upgrades and features available for use regardless of which phone brand you use.

According to Huawei, the new Watch GT 4 has over 25,000 selectable digital watch faces from official and third party options and hosts their updated TruSeen 5.5+ heart rate monitoring technology for better heart rate tracking along with enhanced sleep quality monitoring, SP02 tracking and a wider variety of workouts including tracking calories burnt during esports too. On paper, the larger 46mm has a larger battery that is rated for 14 days of battery life while the smaller 41mm variant is rated for 7 days of battery life.

In Malaysia, Huawei will offer the Watch GT 4 46mm with your choice of Grey with Integrated Stainless-Steel Strap, Green with Green Woven Strap, Brown with Brown Leather Strap, and Black with Black Fluoroelastomer Strap. The smaller Huawei Watch GT 4 41mm is available in three different variants – Silver with Two-tone Piano Key Bracelet, White with White Leather Strap and Black with Black Fluoroelastomer Strap. Preorders start from 5th October 2023 onwards at all Huawei Experience stores, Huawei’s Official Website and Huawei Official Store on Shopee with prices that start from RM1,099with free gifts worth up to RM580 upon preorders made from 5th to 13th October 2023 that include the Huawei FreeBuds SE 2, the Huawei EasyFit FLuoroelastomer strap, a 1+1 year extended warranty, 3 months screen protection and a limited edition watch face.

On 8th October 2023 for one day only, there will also be a Shopee Super Brand Day where Huawei will be offering special deals on the Huawei Watch GT 4 46mm fluoroelastomer strap and the Huawei Watch GT 4 41mm silver strap as well as selected Huawei products.

Huawei Watch Ultimate

Alongside the Watch GT 4 series, Huawei also debuted the appropriately named Huawei Watch Ultimate Design that uses a traditional Chinese gold inlay technique to craft six-segment 18K gold design on its exquisite case that’s embellished with a nanocrystal ceramic bezel that has a luster akin to precious stones.

Not only does it look stunning, the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design is exceptionally tough to booth with 10ATM water resistance – that’s double that of the Watch GT 4 – which means it can continue ticking in depths of up to 100-metres for up to 24 hours while retaining an EN13319 dive rating as well as an ISO 22810 water resistance rating.

Huawei will be issuing the watch in limited numbers with only 100 units allocated to Malaysia so it’s on a first come first served basis. According to Huawei, the timepiece will be priced at RM13,999 and will be available from 14th October 2023 onwards.

Huawei MatePad 11 PaperMatte Edition specs and availability

The Huawei MatePad 11 PaperMatte Edition tablet is their latest premium slate that hosts an 11-inch, 2,560 x 1,600 pixel FullView display with a 275ppi and 120Hz refresh rate and a special PaperMatte finish that mimics the tactility and sensation of paper when using their bundled second gen M-Pencil stylus or with fingers.

Not only does the PaperMatte finish help to mitigate smudges, it also acts to eliminate 97% of glare while offering superior pixel-level precision. The Huawei MatePad 11 PaperMatte Edition is also the industry’s first slate to have SGS Low Visual Fatigue Premium Performance and TÜV Rheinland Reflection Free certification.

Display aside, the Huawei MatePad 11 PaperMatte Edition hosts a Snapdragon 870 processor running HarmonyOS 3.1 with 8GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage with fast WiFi 6, quad speakers with Histen 8.0 tech. Of note is that the tablet ships with a free copy of PC-level WPS Office which has a PC-grade productivity suite with all the fonts, functions and more that are typically reserved for the PC for documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

The Huawei MatePad 11 PaperMatte Edition will be available nationwide from 5th October 2023 priced at RM2,299 across all HUAWEI Experience Stores, HUAWEI’s Official Website and HUAWEI Official Store on Shopee. Customers will also get a host of complimentary gifts that include RM1,496 that include a free 2nd Gen Huawei M-Pencil, the Huawei MatePad Detachable smart keyboard case, a Huawei Microfiber polishing cloth and 6-months screen protection upon purchase.
