IKEA Malaysia restaurants, cafés and bistros in Malaysia now have JAKIM Halal certification
IKEA Malaysia has achieved a milestone this year as all IKEA restaurants, cafés and bistros nationwide are now officially halal-certified by Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM).
“Malaysians’ love for our food has always inspired us and that is something we hold close,” said Malcolm Pruys, Country Retail Director of IKEA Malaysia. “This certification reflects our respect for trust, culture, and community.”
He continues, “In Malaysia, halal is not just about compliance. It is a matter of trust, cultural respect, and spiritual assurance. Working closely with JAKIM, we’ve ensured full compliance across sourcing, kitchen operations and staff training. Achieving certification actually deepens the bond we share with Malaysians and demonstrates that we value what matters to them most.”

Malcolm adds, “We are always looking for ways to make the IKEA food experience more inclusive, accessible and affordable. That also includes continuing to introduce more sustainable choices, cutting down on food waste, and simply serving meals that are not only delicious, but also better for people and the planet.”
