Kaspersky Lab Transparency Centre in Zurich begins operations

The next stage in Kaspersky Lab’s  staunch commitment to their sweeping Global Transparency Initiative that was announced in October 2017 has taken place with the Kaspersky Lab Transparency Centre in Zurich commencing operations while their data centres located in the same city begin processing data from their European customers.

The opening of the Transparency Centre also marks a new milestone for Kaspersky Lab as threat-related data such as malware and other potentially malicious files flagged or encountered and which are subsequently voluntarily shared by users of Kaspersky Lab products in Europe will be processed in their Zurich-based data centres starting from November 13 2018.

The Kaspersky Lab Transparency Centre stands out as a trailblazer in the cybersecurity industry as it allows accredited partners to peruse and review the company’s software updates, threat detection and other software at an intimate code level in an open manner while in a secure environment.

Transparency is becoming the new normal for the IT industry– and for the cybersecurity industry in particular. We are proud to be on the front line of this process. As a technological company, we are focused on ensuring the best IT infrastructure for the security of our products and data, and the relocation of key parts of our infrastructure to Switzerland places them in one of the most secure locations in the world. The promises made in our Global Transparency Initiative are coming to fruition, enhancing the resilience and visibility of our products. Through the new Transparency Center also in Switzerland, trusted partners and governments will be able to see external reviews of our products and make more informed decisions. We believe that steps such as these are just the beginning – for the company and for the security industry as a whole. The need to prove trustworthiness will soon become an industry standard.” said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab.

This relocation of Kaspersky Lab data centres in Switzerland is for a number of reasons, chief among them being a commitment to prove the trustworthiness of the services and products of Kaspersky Lab in addition to enhancing the resilience of their IT infrastructure against supply-chain attacks and data breaches.

Switzerland is also renowned as the world’s top location in terms of the number of secure internet servers available while boasting of robust data privacy regulations that are guaranteed by the country’s laws along with strict regulations on processing data received from the authorities. These conditions make Zurich the ideal location to establish the Kaspersky Lab Transparency Centre.

As the next stage after establishing the Transparency Centre and commencing processing European customer data in Zurich, Kaspersky Lab aims to engage one of the Big Four professional service firms to conduct an audit of the company’s engineering practices in order to ensure compliance with the most stringent industry security practices, as per SSAE 19 standard (Statement of Standards for Attestation Engagements) with an emphasis towards their regular automatic updates of antivirus records for platforms and servers running Windows and Unix.
