Magic The Gathering March of the Machine expansion invades tabletops this 21 April

The latest Magic The Gathering March of the Machine expansion pack will be launching for tabletop this coming 21st April 2023 and will see the conclusion of a four expansion set storyline that will have the Phyrexians – ingame equivalents to the Borg square off with an Avengers style heroic ensemble of Planeswalkers from across reality.

What is Magic The Gathering March of the Machine

The new March of the Machine expansion will come in draft boosters, set boosters, collector boosters, jumpstart boosters, welcome boosters, commander decks, bundles, a secret lair and will feature a host of new mechanics.

Of note is a new Battle mechanic which involves dual-faced cards and selecting an opponent to protect it. Should the card be attacked or damaged or eliminated, it can turn into a new card.

Another interesting mechanic is Backup which adds +1/+1 counters and perks depending on the creature conferring the bonus and Phyrexians get the new Incubator mechanic that can issue +1/+1 counters and can turn into creatures by paying two mana.

The new expansion also adds five new Jumpstart themes which are Brood, Overachiever, Expendable, Reinforcement and Buff while the new Commander decks add Phyrexian Cats, Zhalfir Knights, Shaman Creatures, Convoke Angels and Gremlin Artifacts to the line-up.

Collectors will also appreciate the new art with a variety of showcase frames from recent sets especially in Legendary creatures appearing in the set and a new Halo Foil pattern in Collector Boosters on top of three new promo cards.
