New OMEGA Summer Blue collection offers exquisite timepieces for discerning collectors

OMEGA is one of the most iconic brands for timepieces on the planet and their relentless pursuit of quality and innovation has resulted in a host of horological milestones such as their Seamaster series timepieces that have become highly sought after collectibles and their Ultra Deep watch that survived a dive to the Mariana Trench, one of the deepest points in the ocean on earth unscathed.

The new OMEGA Summer Blue collection celebrates their rich history and legacy of innovation with 7 models and 11 exquisite crafted timepieces that mark their most iconic designs .

Consisting of the stylish Aqua Terra in three different models, the Aqua Terra Worldtimer, the iconic Seamaster 300, the Diver 300M, the Planet Ocean 600M, the distinctive Ploprof 2023 and the legendary Ultra Deep, the new OMEGA Summer Blue collection features beautifully blue hued dials that are coloured to match the respective water resistance of the respective timepiece.

On one end of the spectrum is the Aqua Terra which has 150 metres of water resistance and a light Summer Blue dial while on the other end of the scale, the Ultra Deep has a whopping 6,000 metres of depth resistance with a deep, almost black dial to signify its ability to survive the ocean depths.

In between these extremes is the Aqua Terra Worldtimer, the Seamaster 300, the Diver 300M, the eponymous Planet Ocean 600M and the distinctive PloProf which in itself is a reissue of the original from 1971.

To ensure that their renowned timepieces are water resistant, they’re tested at OMEGA’s own industry-leading facilities which have actual underwater environments and to certifications set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). Here’s what we found fascinating in the collection…

OMEGA Summer Blue Collection – Aqua Terra

Originally launched in 2002, the refreshed Seamaster Aqua Terra harkens to the exquisitely sleek aesthetics of the 1957 Seamaster 300. For 2023, the refreshed OMEGA Aqua Terra collection features a trio of models for a new generation of watch lovers that has a sun-brushed Summer Blue dial that reflects its 150 metres of water resistance.

OMEGA Summer Blue Collection – OMEGA Ploprof

An abbreviation of its French name, Ploprof stands for PLOngeur PROfessionnel – French for “professional diver”. The distinctive housing and unforgettable name are the result of early efforts to create one of the first diving watches by creating a solid monobloc case and affixing the crystal to it in order to eliminate the need for a helium escape valve.

The new 2023 Ploprof has a Summer Blue dial and is hewn from O-Megasteel with a sapphire crystal bezel ring as well as a Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8912 running under the hood.

OMEGA Summer Blue Collection – OMEGA Ultra Deep

The pinnacle of OMEGA’s watchmaking prowess, the first OMEGA Ultra Deep watches made history when they were worn all the way down to the Mariana Trench, one of the deepest points in the ocean on the planet.

The case and bracelet are hewn from robust O-Megasteel while the deep blue dial represents a map of the Challenger Deep with an UV light easter egg that depicts the word OMEGA was here’ on the dial when it made its pioneering dive down to 10,935m.
