Here’s why the Oppo Find N2 is the hottest foldable you can’t buy just yet

Revealed at Oppo’s Inno Day, the newly announced Oppo Find N2 is intended as a successor to last year’s Find N1 with an ambit to take on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 head-on as the premier flagship foldable phone though it’s currently so far limited to a release in China for now.

What is the Oppo Find N2?

Up front the Oppo Find N2 has a form factor akin to the Fold4 with a front cover touchscreen and a foldable inner display  though it aims for a squarer, wider aspect ratio with the front cover display measuring in at 5.54-inches with a 2,120 x 1080 pixels resolution and a 120Hzz refresh rate along with a 1,350 nits peak brightness. Additional refinements to the Oppo Find N2 is the integration of a Flexion Hinge that enables a flatter crease and enables the phone to close flat while enabling the phone to stay open at any angle between 45 – 145 degrees.

Unfolding the phone reveals a main 7.1-inch AMOLED display with an 8.4:9 aspect ratio and a 1,792 x 1,920 pixels resolution with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that drops down to 1Hz as needed with a 1,550 nits peak brightness. Of note is the ability to support a new Oppo Pen Stylus which has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Rather than an under-display fingerprint sensor, the Find N2 opts for a power button that doubles as a fingerprint reader as well as facial recognition.

To augment its durability, Oppo has integrated a support plate beneath the display made of carbon fibre that also helps to make it lighter than its predecessor the N1 by 42g, making it weigh in at 237g.with its glass backplate. A posher looking vegan leather variant weighs slightly less at 233g..

Under the hood, the phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor paired with either 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of USF 3.1 storage with Android 13 overlaid by their ColorOS 13 UI that has been tweaked to cater to the wider form factor of a foldable phone. The foldable also features Oppo’s own MariSilicon imaging neural processing unit (NPU) that augments its camera capabilities. Other mod-cons include fast WiFi 6, 5G connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3.

On the rear, the phone features a triple camera array with a 50MP F/1.18 camera that uses a 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 sensor paired with OIS, a 48MP F/2.2 ultra wide angle camera with a Sony IMX581 sensor and a 32MP F/2.0 telephoto camera.

Will the Oppo Find N2 come to Malaysia?

In terms of pricing, the Oppo Find N2 comes with a glass finish and 16GB RAM with 512GB of storage clocks in at about RMB8,999 (which is about RM5,700) while the mainline variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage with a vegan leather backplate is priced at RMB7,999 (about RM5,075). Unfortunately, the Oppo Find N2 is slated only for deployment in China for now so there are no official channels to acquire it in Malaysia for now.
