New PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe tiers rolling out in Malaysia Singapore and more starting today; here’s what you need to know
The Sony PlayStation Plus subscription service is taking things up a step with the deployment of a new PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier with more perks and freebies starting today in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. Next week, Sony will roll out the service in Japan with North and South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand slated for a June 2022 launch date.
What is the new Sony PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier about
Originally launched almost 12 years ago, the PlayStation Plus service has evolved into one of the most popular game subscription services today and the addition of a new PlayStation Plus Extra tier and Deluxe tier adds in even more exciting games to the line-up from the PS4 and PS5 monthly along with the customary online multiplayer access.
Current PlayStation Plus subscribers will migrate over to the new PlayStation Plus Essential tier with the same perks and benefits. Alongside the current entry-level PlayStation Plus Essential tier, the addition of the new PlayStation Plus Extra tier grants access to the PS4 and PS5 game catalogue while the PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier adds all these and throws in access to the original Playstation, PS2 and PSP Classic game catalogue as well as PlayStation 3 remastered titles. The PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier also offers time-limited game trials on selected flagship titles too with the present list including Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077, Tiny TIna’s Wonderlands, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and more.
In selected markets with cloud streaming support, Sony has a higher end PlayStation Plus Premium tier which offers PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3 and PS4 games via cloud streaming. Unfortunately, this is only available, for now in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.

In terms of pricing, the lowest tier, PlayStation Plus Essential costs RM29 per month, RM69 for a 3-month subscription and RM159 for a 12-month subscription. The new PlayStation Plus Extra tier costs RM44 per month, RM114 for a 3-month subscription and RM269 for a 12-month subscription. The highest end PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier costs RM50 per-month, RM130 for a 3-month subscription and RM309 for a 12-month subscription.
