PrismPlus Laguna Review – Customisable Smart Ceiling Fan Makes Staying Cool A Breeze

Seeing how hot the weather is getting and the fact that the fan in my study room was about to give up the ghost, it was high time to get it replaced and rather than all the conventional options, I decided to give the new PrismPlus Laguna a whirl. After getting it installed and testing it for the past month, here’s my PrismPlus Laguna review where I suss out if their latest smart ceiling fan is worth a spin.

PrismPlus Laguna Review – What makes it different?

In essence, the PrismPlus Laguna is a ceiling fan with optional smart functionality and optional LED lights that you can configure on purchase.

Unlike most conventional ceiling fan models which have fixed designs, the PrismPlus Laguna lets you select from a number of possible variables including fan blades, the inclusion of an integrated tri-colour LED light, smart functionality and more that you can order at their online site.

In terms of choices, you can choose whether it has smart or non-smart functionality so you can control it with the PrismPlus Connect app that’s free for download on the Apple app store and Google Play store, have it with or without an LED light, choose the fan blade colour from black, white or wood and choose the colour of the main housing with your choice of black, white or pink colourways. In total, you can choose from a possible 36 different permutations of the Prism Laguna ceiling fan.

The Laguna ceiling fan comes with a variety of configurable options on purchase

Unlike conventional ceiling fans that use a wobbly J-hook mount, the Laguna itself uses a ‘parrel ball’ mount that needs a bit more work to install but which results in a more stable, quieter design that lasts longer. That’s not all, the Laguna also uses DC brushless fan motors to ensure a quieter, more energy efficient design.

PrismPlus Laguna Review – Performance and Setup

Malaysia’s weather is hot and humid which makes it uncomfortable to sleep at night, especially if living in a dense urban environment like the Klang Valley where there’s hardly any air circulation, especially where the apartment area that I live in, which is surrounded on all four sides by dense condominium blocks. When the ceiling fan in my study room started rattling and finally giving up the ghost, it  was finally time to get a new one which is where the PrismPlus Laguna ceiling fan came into the picture.

PrismPlus Laguna Review room

When fully tricked out, our PrismPlus Laguna review sample came with smart functionality, an LED light, white fan blades and a white housing, all of which clocked in at RM319. If you’re the frugal sort, the most basic non-smart model without a light goes for RM199.

Bear in mind though that this only covers the cost of the fan and additional installation fees apply with a base installation and shipping fee of RM120 on all orders with additional charges depending on additional onsite requirements.

On the bright side, the PrismPlus Laguna does come with a 10-year warranty on the motor which does add peace of mind. After confirming my fan configuration, the PrismPlus installer managed to at the appointed time a couple of weeks later as I was out of town at the time and completed the job in a couple of hours with minimal trouble by removing the older ceiling fan and installing the new one.

PrismPlus Laguna Review cool

When installed, I was struck by how quiet my PrismPlus Laguna review sample was when it was in operation . It paired up easily with the PrismPlus Connect app on my phone and the fan offered six selectable speeds to choose from.

I loved the ‘Natural’ mode that allows fan speed to alternate from slow to fast every 20 seconds to create the effect of a natural breeze rather than the constant gust of wind in a normal model. The provided LED light also let you tweak the colour from warm to a colder white light as needed and are bright enough for ambient lighting which helps save on the need to install an additional light fixture in my study room.

Overall, it’s a solid design that runs quiet, does the job and the array of selectable design options lets it mesh with any home decor. The PrismPlus Laguna is definitely worth a look when you’re looking for your next ceiling fan.
