The sleek Razer Blade 16 gaming laptop has the world’s first dual mode display

On top of showcasing unique concept gear like Project Carol at CES 2023, Razer also took the wraps off their Blade 16 gaming laptop that has beefy specs and a unique feature that is a current world first. Also launched was the larger Blade 18 gaming laptop that acts more as a desktop replacement.

What is the Razer Blade 16?

The new Razer Blade 16 is a thoroughbred of a gaming laptop but where it aims to top the competition is the fact that it has the world’s first 16-inch dual-mode Mini LED display that allows users to swap between a razor sharp UHD+ 120Hz resolution for serious work like content creation or movie watching and smoother FHD+ 240Hz native for gaming duties though you’ll need to reboot the laptop to swap modes.

In terms of hardware, the Razer Blade can be kitted out with up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9 HX 5.5GHz processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU with an impressive 175W full TGP,  up to 64GB RAM, a quad-speaker setup that has THX Spatial audio and a 95.2Wh battery crammed into a chassis hewn from a single slab of aluminium.

Alongside the Razer Blade 16, the larger Blade 18 that is intended as a desktop replacement has a 18-inch QHD+ display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 3ms response time. While it lacks the dual mode display of the smaller Blade 16, it has equally respectable hardware under the hood with up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9 HX processor, up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 with up to 175W TGP with both cooled by a 3-fan system and a large vapour chamber.

Rounding things off is up to 64GB RAM, up to a 2TB SSD a sweet six-speaker setup and a 5MP webcam. Prices vary based on configuration but you’re looking at USD$2,900 and up for the Blade 18 along with a similar Q1 2023 launch date.
