The retro Nokia 8110 banana phone is now in Malaysia for RM285
First unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2018 earlier this year in Barcelona, the Nokia 8110 was the talk of the show with its retroesque styling that harkens back to a simpler time. Now, it’s available in Malaysia for a modest RM285.
The phone comes in either black or yellow, has a 2.45-inch curved QVGA display, 4G connectivity along with the ability to create your own Wi-Fi hotspot. Running under the hood is an MSM8905 Dual Core 1.1GHz processor, 512MB (yes, Megabyte) of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. A physical keypad at the base lets you type texts like a boss while the phone runs Smart Feature OS powered by KaiOS which has many of the apps that have become mainstays on our phone including Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Assistant and the like. And yes, it has Snake preloaded on it to keep yourself busy on the commute.
The rear camera has a modest 2-MP sensor though it does have an LED flash for low light scenarios. All this is powered by a 1,500mAh battery that offers 25 days of standby time which is impressive by any measure of the word.
