ROG Ally X gaming handheld coming to Malaysia; RM4,299 with RM658 in free gifts if you preorder

The original ROG Ally hit our shores like a thunderbolt, offering the full panoply of games that a Windows PC can offer in a compact handheld form factor.

Now, they’re back for round two with the ROG Ally X that is now on preorder in Malaysia priced at RM4,299 with RM658 in free gifts when you preorder before 31 July 2024. The free gifts consist of an ROG Ally hard case, a gaming charger dock and screen protector.

ROG Ally X upgrades and preorder

Rather than a radical redesign, the ROG AllyX is a more refined version of its predecessor that addresses most of its shortcomings based on user feedback.

While the ROG Ally X retains the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and 7-inch 1080p 120Hz touch display as the Ally X, it upgrades the rest of the hardware and has more RAM with 24GB LPDDR5X at its beck and call, a larger 1TB SSD for more games and a beefier 80Wh battery for longer gaming sessions. 

To keep all this hardware cool, the design has a new set of cooling fans that are 24% smaller but can push 24% more air through a tri-vent design and helps keep the whole affair, specifically the touch panel up to 6°C cooler. 

On the outside, the ROG Ally X has a few ergonomic tweaks with slanted triggers, smaller macro buttons to reduce misfires and more durable joysticks and D-Pads. ROG has also added even more I/O to the handheld with a pair of USB-C ports, one of which has Thunderbolt support.
