ROG Mothership gaming rig redefines portable gaming
The war for the space on our desktops and our wallet is heating up as gaming notebook manufacturers aim to go beyond fighting a war purely on specifications and price tags. This time around, they’re coming up with innovative designs that go way beyond what we know as a gaming laptop much like the massive edifice of gaming that is the ASUS ROG Mothership.
First seen at Computex 2019 in Taiwan, the ROG Mothership is as big as they come in almost every respect of the word with a 17.3-inch 144Hz, 3ms, G-Sync compatible display taking center stage.
Where it takes things to the realm of next-gen design is that it features a detachable wireless keyboard and kickstand for the display so that you can deploy it much like an all-in-one PC but still packing a built-in 76Whr battery for gaming in the field. You can still keep the keyboard attached to the display, leaving it as a massive 17.3-inch gaming notebook.
On top of giving your arms a hefty workout, the ROG Mothership comes with impressive specifications that include a factory overclocked Intel Core i9-9980HK processor, 32GB 2,666MHz DDR4 RAM, a 512GB PCIE G3 x 4 NVME M.2 SSD in Raid 0 configuration, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with 8GB GDDR6. Naturally, all this doesn’t come cheap and the ROG Mothership boasts of a princely price tag of a whopping RM26,999. If your pockets are deep enough, it arrives this coming July 2019.
