Samsung Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26 launched; coming soon to Malaysia

Samsung has carved out a niche for their midrange Galaxy A series workhorses that offer good specifications at a decent price. For 2025, they’ve just announced their new midrange Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26, all of which have 5G connectivity and cull a number of Galaxy AI features from their flagship Galaxy S series phones that they’ve dubbed as Awesome Intelligence.

The new Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26 all run the latest One UI 7 firmware matching the flagship Galaxy S25 series phones and notably include enhanced AI features such as Circle to Search which enables users to find topics, songs,  images or subjects straight from a display, the vaunted Best Face mode on the Galaxy S25 series that lets you dynamically pick and combine the best mugshot for up to 5 people at a time, Object Eraser to intelligently delete unwanted objects in display and, best of all, up to 6 years of OS upgrades and security updates which means that the line-up will be updated to Android 21 and secure until 2031. All of the new line-up also have IP67 dust and water resistance too.

Here’s how they stack up in terms of hardware:

Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Specs

The new Samsung Galaxy A56 5G sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display that uses Vision Booster tech for better clarity in daylight and has up to a 120Hz refresh rate that is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+.

Powering the Galaxy A56 5G is an Exynos 1580 processor, the first phone in the market to use this new chipset, paired with a larger vapour chamber running Android 15 under the hood with One UI 7 and your choice of three possible configurations with the highest end model packing 12GB RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage along with an 8GB RAM and your choice of either 128GB or 256Gb storage.

The rear triple camera array consists of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera and a 12MP f/2.2 ultra wide angle camera while the front packs a 12MP f/2.2 camera. Keeping the Galaxy A56 5G powered is a 5,000mAh battery that notably has 45W charging and Super Fast Charge 2.0 tech.

In Malaysia, the Galaxy A56 5G can be acquired in your choice of four colourways – Awesome Lightgray, Awesome Graphite, Awesome Olive and Awesome Pink.

Samsung Galaxy A36 5G Specs

The Samsung Galaxy A36 5G has a similar display as the Galaxy A56 5G- a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz Super AMOLED panel with Vision Booster but uses a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset paired with either 6GB, 8GB or 12GB RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of non-expandable storage. The rear camera mirrors that of the Galaxy A56 save that the ultra wide camera uses a smaller 8MP f/2.2 sensor. Even the battery is similar with a 5,000mAh cell and 45W charging with Super Fast Charge 2.0 tech. The Galaxy A36 5G can be acquired in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Black, Awesome White and Awesome Lime.

Samsung Galaxy A26 5G Specs

Like its larger siblings, the Galaxy A26 6G has a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz Super AMOLED display but instead of a punch hole uses a cutout for the front-facing 13MP f/2.2 camera. The phone also uses an Exynos 1380 chipset that first saw service in last year’s Galaxy A55. It also comes with either 6GB or 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage though it does have a micro SD card slot.

The camera array is akin to the A36 5G save that it further pares down the macro camera to a 2MP sensor. The battery is the same at 5,000mAh but doesn’t have 45W fast charging and is stuck to 25W wired charging. In Malaysia, the Galaxy A26 5G is only available in Black, Mint and Peach Pink.

At present, there are no prices yet for any of the new models just yet but they will be arriving soon this coming 18 March 2025. Stay tuned for updates!
