Samsung Galaxy Buds gets amazing software updates including Spotify support

The original Samsung Galaxy Buds came out sometime in 2019 and proved to be a surprisingly comfortable and competent pair of wireless earbuds with solid performance. Even today, Samsung is still showing them love as they’ve rolled out a potent software update that adds some impressive features that were previously only available on the new Galaxy Buds+ that were launched this year.

The new Samsung Galaxy Buds software update is centered around three new software upgrades that add new features to the wireless earbuds. The first is a Microsoft Swift Pair mode that lets you rapidly pair the Galaxy Buds up to a Windows 10 PC in a matter of seconds which ought to make all those Microsoft Teams and Zoom calls a lot easier.

The next firmware upgrade gives you Ambient Sound which means that the Galaxy Buds will be able to pipe in a controlled amount of external sound like oncoming traffic to ensure situational awareness at all times.

Last but not least, the new firmware upgrade for the Galaxy Buds now offers Spotify support with a ‘tap and hold’ gesture allowing you to start Spotify and listening to your personal playlists on demand.

While the Galaxy Buds were superseded by the Galaxy Buds+ this year, the originals still have a lot of fight left in them with the new firmware upgrade granting them significant functionality and quality of life improvements. They’re also cheaper too by a good margin with Samsung’s recent repricing exercise that has knocked the price of the original Galaxy Buds down to RM349.
