Samsung Galaxy Ring launched at Galaxy Unpacked 2024; not coming to Malaysia
At Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Paris 2024, the brand unveiled their latest flagship foldables the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 along with the Galaxy Watch7, the tough Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Buds Pro3, Galaxy Buds3 and, with much anticipation, their first smart ring, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Ring that offers 24/7 health tracking in a ring-shaped form factor.
Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Ring won’t be coming to Malaysia this time around but it will be sold in selected markets including its home turf in South Korea
What is the Samsung Galaxy Ring?
At a glance, it offers much of the health and activity tracking of a full-sized Galaxy Watch but in a more compact, comfortable form factor that allows for an uninterrupted wear experience even when sleeping.
It’s mostly a fitness tracking device though and there’s no means to interact with the ring directly as it requires pairing up with a smartphone, ideally a Samsung Galaxy phone for optimised performance.
On paper, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is able to offer heart rate tracking, sleep quality tracking, menstrual cycle tracking and activity tracking such as tracking steps taken throughout the day. The Galaxy Ring itself offers up to 7 days of battery life and is charged via placing it back in its charging case.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Ring will come in Titanium Black, Titanium Gold and Titanium SIlver colourways and will come in multiple different sizes and weights with all of them being about 7mm wide and 2.6mm thin. The band is made of Grade 5 Titanium that has a slight concave on the outer band for better ergonomics.
The electronics on the inner part of the ring are protected with the Samsung Galaxy Ring featuring IP68 dust and water resistance along with 10 ATM depth resistance which works out to about 100 metres of water so you can theoretically take it swimming though it isn’t officially rated for diving.
Samsung Galaxy Ring – is it coming to Malaysia?
As mentioned earlier, it won’t be coming to Malaysia this time around. In terms of pricing, Samsung announced that the Galaxy Ring will be arriving in selected markets this July 2024.
If you’re particularly resourceful you can likely acquire it in the grey market or in a neighbouring country. In the meantime, stay tuned for our other Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Paris 2024 coverage and features on the other gear they’ve launched. For more details, check out www.samsung.com/my
